Background

Canadian whisky is known around the world for its high quality and smooth, approachable style. The goal of The Maligne Range is to reinforce this foundation while exploring the potential of what Canadian whisky can become. There is a growing demand for premium craft whiskies that offered unique flavors and a distinct brand identity. Recognizing this opportunity, we embarked on a journey to create The Maligne Range, inspired by the pristine beauty and rugged spirit of the Maligne Mountain Range in Canada.

Brand Identity: The name "Maligne Range" was chosen to evoke imagery of untouched wilderness and majestic landscapes, reflecting the brand's commitment to authenticity and natural ingredients. The logo features a silhouette of the Maligne Range, symbolizing strength and resilience. The colors used are pulled from seasonal imagery from Jasper evoking a sense of time and plae. The understated minimalist design conveys a sense of premium craftsmanship and high quality. The packaging design incorporates elements of western Canadian heritage, using materials that give a sense of the elements. The incredibly unique bottle is designed to resemble a mountain stream frozen in time, inlaid with a brass and enamel coin. The brand promise, “Whisky made by explorers, for explorers” builds on the insight that true whisky lovers are explorers who are eager for new experiences.

Product Development: The Maligne Range offers a meticulously crafted blend of aged Canadian whiskies, that explore the complex flavours developed through experimental gain bills. Each whisky is aged a minimum of 5 years in order to develop complex flavours. Each expression is named after a peak in the Maligne mountain range.

Marketing Strategy

Target Audience: We defined the audience for The Maligne Range as “whisky adventurers”. Those are whisky enthusiasts, connoisseurs seeking premium experiences, who revel in exploring new ideas.

Brand Ambassadors: Collaborations with Canadian, artists, outdoor adventurers, and whisky influencers serve as brand ambassadors, aligning with the brand's values and storytelling.

Digital Presence: A robust online presence through social and web, enables direct engagement with consumers driving brand recognition.

Events and Tastings: Exclusive tastings, themed events, and participation in whisky festivals create opportunities for consumers to experience The Maligne Range firsthand.

Experience Centre: Located in Jasper Alberta, the experience centre is set to open in late 2024. It will offer and elevated dining experience, showcasing the best Canadian whisky and spirits against a backdrop of the incredible wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
